3 schools. Over 200 children. 10 already in secondary school.

Rural schools, water, and health — built and run directly in Nigeria.

The problem

Eighty percent of the world's extreme poor live in rural areas. Distance from a functioning school, safe water, and a route to income compounds into poverty that's inherited rather than escaped — in rural Nigeria as much as anywhere.

How we work

Every project is designed with local ownership and maintenance built in from the start, delivered through the community and traditional leadership structures already in place — not around them.

A story

"I Never Thought My Daughter Would Go to Secondary School"

My daughter had never been to school. There was no school in our community. I wanted her to go to school, but there was nowhere to send her. As the years passed, I began to think that maybe she would never have the opportunity.

Then Phynai Foundation came to our community and started a school. My daughter started attending. She learned to read and write, and she became excited about school.

Today, she is in secondary school. Honestly, I never thought I would see this. Before Phynai Foundation came, I had no idea how my daughter would ever go to school. Now she is in secondary school and thinking about her future.

I am very grateful. They have given my daughter an opportunity I thought she would never have.
